Stream Of Consciousness-Political Edition
Tonight I went to a program at my school that opened my mind and eyes to some fears that have bothered me.
So if Barack Obama gets elected what effect is it going to have on the African- American community?
I reference this situation to that of Jay-Z becoming the president of Def Jam Records. Artist were so excited that "one of them" was in a position to finally pull them out from the lack of support the label was giving them. The overall feeling was that Jay-Z was once an artist so he knows and understands the struggle. Why wouldnt my situation get 10x better?
I feel like artist became very relaxed on the label because they felt as if one man was going to come down and save the day. Its almost as if they felt they didnt have to work as hard and the harsh reality slapped alot of artist in the face.
So how does this tie into our future president?
Just like Jay-Z, Barack is only one man. I pray that because he comes into office African-Americans dont relax because they feel as if Barack is going to solve all the worlds ills, as if he is some sort of messiah.
Barack Obama has always promised change, that has been the framework for his whole campaign. The word change in this campaign weighs heavily not only on Obama but every person who calls this country home. We cant throw our problems at his feet expecting everything to be fixed, that what God is for. Change starts from getting out to vote this election where as, history has shown, that its not something that has been very strong within the black community.
The best way to get the change that you want, the change that benefits you the most......is to become the change you want to see. I have no doubt in my heart that Barack Obama will get into office and try his hardest to turn things around. I have no doubt that Barack Obama will try and tackle the corruption that is the government. I have no doubt that Barack Obama will usher in a new regime with hope and peace at the forefront.......but I also hope that everyone knows all these changes cant happen with just him alone.
I pray people dont look to Barack for handouts instead look at the fact that we have the 1st African-American president in office right now, so there is nothing in this world that I can not do. I pray inner city youth can watch tv and become inspired because they see themselves behind that podium speaking on November 5th.
Once again lets all become the change we are looking for and we can all take that 1st step by voting. Lets get Barack into office and change this country one day at a time.

Late Text
On top of the success of Tha Carter III as well as winning "Lyricist of The Year" at this years' BET Awards, Dwanye Carter can add a newborn baby boy to his list of blessings.
The birth took place this afternoon at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. No information has been given on the baby's weight or name. Also the mother's name has not been disclosed either.
I hope the birth of his son can make him finally put that styrofoam cup down...you have to let it go sometime Wayne.

Stream Of Consciousness-8 More Years?
Ladies and Gentleman November 4th is quickly approaching us. Its time for everyone to come together and change the bs we have gone through the for the last eight years. Today I went door to door letting ppl know early voting started tomorrow and they should get out and vote straight democratic ticket. I only met two houses that were not going to vote for Obama, but everyone else was excited about the opportunity to go to the polls. As corny as it sounds it was very inspiring. I have to give a big shout out to the 72 year old woman with the Mr. Magoo glasses lol. She told me she was a Republican and she has only voted twice in her life; once for Nixon and again for Bush. She told me she is no longer making the same mistake.....she is voting for Barack.
Please, please, please make sure you get out and vote and lets change history for good.

Stream Of Consciousness-Who Keeps Interviewing Jim Jones
Alright so I am reading my daily hip-hop news and I see a article from an artist that shouldn't even be relevant in the game right now , but for some weird reason he is always getting interviewed?!
That's right you guessed it, its Jim Jones.....he gave us hits like "Ballin" and my personal favorite "Reppin Time". Is it me or does every time he gets an interview he uses it as a platform to hate on someone else? To me the true essence of an interview is to self promote upcoming projects and talk about different aspects of the game and occasionally air out another artist. The latter seems to be Jones' strong point. In a recent interview with Rhapsody.com he cleared up comments he made in "Complex Magazine". He was basically voicing his concern (crying) for being left out of the "Swagger Like Us" while letting readers know that he is crafting "Jackin' Swagger From Us" ft Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana. The SELF PROCLAIMED SWAGGER KING (LOL) made comments about T.I., Jay-Z, and never stopped taking shots at Kanye West, and just made comments about Nas.
Focus on your career Jones.....not on everyone else.

Keynote Speaker- Andre 3000
Today I listened to the radio for the first time in at least a year....It reminded me why I never listen to the radio anymore lol. I wasnt even going to make this post until Monday but I had to hear some good lyrics at least one time today....
Andre 3000- Aquemini (2nd & 4th Verse)
"Twice upon a time there was a boy who died
lived happily ever after but thats a another chapter
live from home of the brave with dirty dollars, beauty parlors, baby bottles
bowling ball Impala's, street scholars majoring in culinary arts,
you know how to work bread, cheese & dough
from scratch but see the catch is you can get caught
Know what you selling, what you bought so cut that big talk
lets walk to a bridge meet me halfway
now you may see some children dead off in the pathway
its them poor babies walkin' slowly to the candy lady
its lookin' bad need some hope like the words maybe, if or probably
more than a hobby
when my turntables get wobbly they dont fall
I'm sorry ya"ll I often drift, I'm talking gift
so when it comes you never look the horse inside its grill
of course you know I feel like the bearer of bad news
dont wanna be it but its needed so what have you
Now question is every nigga with dreds for the cause?
Now question is every nigga with dreds for the cause?
Is every nigga with golds for the fall? Naw
So dont get caught up in experience
Its Outkast Aquemini another black experience"
4th Verse
"My mind warps and bends floats the wind count to ten
meet the twin Andre Ben. welcome to the Lion's Den
original skin many men comprehend
I extend myself so you go out and tell a friend
Sin all depends on what you believing in
Faith is what you make it, thats the hardest shit since MC Ren
Alien can blend right on in with your kin
Look again cause I swear I spot one every now and then
Its happening again, wish I could tell you when
Andre this is Andre ya'll just gonna have to make amends"

Travis Barker Speaks on Near Fatal Crash
I apologize to everyone for not putting this up, when it came out like a day or two ago. Travis Barker did his first interview since the plane crash with US Weekly and here is what he had to say:
"I hate planes. My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened...well, I'm just thankful to be alive! I'm just grateful to be here at all," Barker told Us Weekly.
"I am doing the best I can possibly be," Barker explained to US Weekly. "I'm so anxious to get out of here. I was in Georgia at the hospital over there and was scared to death to even get on an airplane again, so I had Shanna and my father come out and meet me and we took a bus back to L.A. I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third-degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands has second-degree burns and one has third-degree burns."
Travis we are still praying for you and DJ AM as well as those who didnt make it. It is truly a blessing they are alive.

Seeing Sounds Album Review
4 out of 5
#1 out 3 (rank vs album catalog)
This album dropped on June 10th, its now 4 months later and I am still bumping the cd. I was asked to review this album so shouts out to Brandon or Branden like they call him now lol. I did some research on "Seeing Sounds" this album was actually inspired when the band watched a show about synaesthesia- the neurological that causes ppl to experience sounds as colors or objects as colors hence the creation of the idea and title.
"Seeing Sounds" is an album that mixes organic sounds with hip-hop beats and breaks splashed with an R&B. It sounds as if they were really making beats as opposed to using the traditional MPC. By that I mean live instruments in the studio later mixed with a MAC lol. (Pharrell had the nerve to say he is a PC, when he knows he using a Mac, matter-of-fact check any YouTube video and I guarantee he is sitting in front of an IMac, but I guess a check is a check haha, and one endorsed by Bill Gates cant possible bounce).
"Everybody Nose" takes a look at Hollywood's cocaine addiction, "Windows" is a story of looking into the a girls eyes that have caught your attention. I dont know what "Anti-Matter"
is talking about lol but the beat is disgusting! "Spaz" takes you on musical journey, it almost gives you the feel of riding a roller coster. "Yeah You" talks about those ppl who fall in love way to fast (stalker type). "Sooner or Later" talks about life at its lowest moments while "Happy" talks about life at its highest moments. "Love Bomb" talks about putting your differences aside when in a relationship and enjoying each other. All in all this album is very well put together and it is def worth the buy.

Nas and Pharrell Speak On Why Rappers Dont Visit Africa More Often
I hope this changes things and more artist go to Africa, because what is perceived is what is believed in this crazy world we are living in. I fully agree with Nas on that, everything is portrayed in a negative light and that scares some ppl away from wanting to visit.
I feel there are Africans who were born here who dont wanna go visit because of stories they have heard. I have no doubt it is hard out there but honestly, its hard out here as well. So either way you have to learn how to adapt and cope. I personally have not been myself but I can not wait till the day I get the opportunity to go back home and see what it is like for myself.
At the same time Nas almost makes it seem like African's look down on African Americans but it actually goes both ways. Across the board communication needs to revamped so there is a sense of pride no matter what side of the continent you reside on. In the end, we all come from the same place.

Rick Ross Admits To Being A Correctional Officer
Rick Ross has opened up to the public about being a correctional officer before becoming a rapper. In the newest issue of Don Diva Magazine he admits he was a Florida Correctional officer for 18 months. He also had this to say:
"Yes, it's me," Ross tells Don Diva. "I never tried to hide my past. I put my name inside my CDs. My company has my [Social Security number]. I could've put a company name...I done been up and I done been down and that's what makes me what I am. I never ratted on a nigga. I never prosecuted a nigga. I never locked up a nigga, that's first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga that I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation. When I'm making my music and I'm talking about blow, it's because I did it. When I say that I'm rich off cocaine, it's because I did it. Those are the street principals that apply."
Personally I dont really care if he was a correctional police officer cause that's neither here nor there. If he did do everything he rapped about that's fine, if not that's fine too. I dont buy his albums or post his freestyles based on the fact he used to sell drugs. I support because I feel like he is a talented artist. His past is his past, for whatever reason he didnt want to come out and admit it before, is his choice entirely. Hip-Hop has seen worse and let worse go [i.e Wayne Kissing Baby in the MOUTH] so this situation can not be that big. His success took a shot at him. Shouts out to Rick Ross, visit www.deeperthanrap.com, I believe that is also the name of his upcoming album or maybe it is a mixtape....I am not sure, I will get back to you on that one lol.
In the mean time, lets get back to the Music

They Say History Repeats Itself Right? (John McLame Edition)
I got an email with this information. I will let you make a decision....
When the savings and loan industry collapsed, Keating’s failed company put taxpayers on the hook for $3.4 billion and more than 20,000 Americans lost their savings. John McCain was reprimanded by the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee, but the ultimate cost of the crisis to American taxpayers reached more than $120 billion.
The Keating scandal is eerily similar to today’s credit crisis, where a lack of regulation and cozy relationships between the financial industry and Congress has allowed banks to make risky loans and profit by bending the rules. And in both cases, John McCain’s judgment and values have placed him on the wrong side of history.

Benjamin Bixby Clothing Line Has Been Officially Launched
The best rapper in the South (that's right I said it!!!!!) Andre 3000 has officially launched his clothing line "Benjamin Bixby". I cant speak for anyone else but I am currently in a recession so I wont have any of this for a while lol. Sorry Dre, I will still show support by buying the album haha. The line says to me 1930's, it has a very vintage look and I am also feeling the logo.
Not Going Anywhere For A While?....
Now you know like I know, that the MAN ( 13 years from when he dodged the bullet the first time..... thats awkward huh?) has been looking for OJ to mess up, so they can catch him when he fell......OJ did just that. Also I just went to CNN.com and they are currently running a poll witht the title "Should OJ spend the rest of his life in jail?" 20% said no......80% said yes. Not a good look at all.
OJ is f******* up!
Shouts out to Brian and Dave Chappelle hahaha
Kanye West Performs 2nd Single "Heartless"
Its only a minute long but, what I did hear of it I liked. I was under the impression the whole or majority of the album was going to be done using the vocoder...if it sounds anything like this then I am looking forward to it cause you know K. West is extra creative.

T-Pain vs His Vocoder
HAHAHA, this is the kind of free time you have when you charge $85,000 for a hook. Also T-Pain signed an endorsement deal to have his own version of the vocoder, so now he is really about to get paid. Shouts out to T-Pain.

Paper Trail Album Review
4 out 5
(My rank: #3 out of his 6 albums)
I am really proud of T.I. on this album. He has def made some changes on his outlook on life. With all the media attention he has recieved as of late, he has been able to turn alot of the negatives aspects into postitve ones. During an interview with Fader Magazine, T.I. mentioned that this is been the first time in a while that he has actually put pen to paper....and it def shows. In a industry where "swag" has replaced "lyricism", "Paper Trail" is able to intertwine the two attributes together; and the finshed product shows his formula was very successful. I have been a advent T.I. listener since "I'm Serious"(2001) and this is by far his best album to date.
Lyrically T.I. has stepped up his usually bravodo-filled rap to touch on real life situatons of success viewed from his eyes. This is referenced in songs such as ("Ready For Whatever", "Live Your Life", "No Matter What", "My Life Your Entertainment", "Slide Show" ,"Dead and Gone"). Of course artist have to justify their thug so he provides tracks ("I'm Illy", "What up, Whats Haapnin", and "Swagga Like Us") and dont worry ladies T.I. didn't forget about his female fans with songs ("Whatever You Like", "Porn Star").
Guest apperances include John Legend, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Swiss Beatz, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, and B.o.B
I feel this one is a definite buy for anyone who loves Hip-Hop, and anyone who is looking to finally hear some quality music from an artist. Shouts out to T.I., he did his thing on this album.

Sobechi Ibekwe for Iron Lungs
(*) denotes songs to listen to
Keynote Speaker- Common
This is the first of many post where I highlight a verse from an artist that stood out to me. Giving props to those who take time writing the words the that affect millions.
(No Shawty Lo verses here hahaha)
Common-The 6th Sense (2nd Verse)
"In front of two-inch glass and Arabs I order fries
Inspiration when I write, I see my daughters eyes
I'm the truth across the table from corporate lies
Immortalized by the realness I bring to it
If revolution had a movie, I'd be theme music
My music, you either fight, fuck, or dream to it
My life is one big rhyme, I try to scheme through it
Through my shell, never know what the divine would bring to it
I'd be lying if I said I didn't want millions
More than money saved, I want to save children
Dealing with alcoholism and afro-centricity
A complex man drawn off of simplicity
Reality is frisking me
This industry will make you lose intensity
The Common Sense in me remembers the basement
I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit"
